The Claire B. Chronicles

Irreverent, wide open, open-minded, fun, deeper, more personal and more opinionated (maybe even some non NASCAR) content than I’ve ever shared during my career will be posted in the Claire B Chronicles section – which could be a newsletter all its own. Maybe one day it will branch off and be just that. Finally, after a lifetime of thinking about it - it’s time for the Chronicles and I can’t wait.

Why now? First, my opinions are completely my own and belong to no employer or entity. I also finally have the time to share more and, like a band that creates only certain kinds of music until they are finally free to write music for different genres, I am excited to be able to post whatever the heck content I feel like posting. I think it is content you’ll like but you will keep me posted on if that is true.

Second, When I started in big-time syndicated and satellite radio women were not even encouraged to call in to most sports talk radio. Guy sports talk hosts were bigger than life with their “I am always right about everything” opinions that made the phone ring. I liked listening and am not criticizing but I knew over 20 years ago no way would a woman who finally was the anchor and not as I used to call my role the “swizzle stick” in terrestrial radio would ever get away with being that kind of an anchor. No way.

So, I said and still believe the only reason I know more than you is because I have better access and I never forgot that. I promised never to shove my opinions down your throat but instead work double hard for you to get five different inside looks at story lines with the athletes and their teams and cover it so you could make your own opinion.

Since I’ve been gone from Satellite radio I have been extremely happy and rewarded every day with awesome blessings. I have not shared what I have been up to because I felt any room for content would focus on the teams– until now and I feel at this age I have earned now the qualifications to be more opinionated, to share more personal content and to take a stab at what I think could be really fun and an interesting way to cover NASCAR and still live a really interesting life and let you be a part of it.
